What Is MyPackPacker?
MyPackPacker is made to simplify gear planning and allow you to focus on being in the outdoors. Among other things, MyPackPacker gives you personal control of the immense breadth of the backpacking gear market. There are thousands of gear options out there, so MyPackPacker was created to give you the tools to cut through the clutter and find exactly what you need at the best possible price.
There are 3 main functions of MyPackPacker:
- Plan a packing list using curated gear categories while managing weight.
- Compare thousands of gear items and find the best match for your needs.
- Share your pack with the community, and browse and upvote other packs posted by other community members.
About Me
My name is Jack Craig, I am an Eagle scout from Northern Califronia. I go to the University of Illinois where I am studying computer science. During my time as a Boy Scout I was lucky enough to go on dozens of backpacking trips all over California, giving me a healthy dose of high sierras, snow camping, and deserts. The story of MyPackPacker began in October of 2020, when I discovered I could apply my computer science skills to my passion for backpacking. I would always flounder before a trip trying to figure out what gear I owned, what I needed, how to keep it light, and the myriad of other factors that go into leaving civilization for the freedoms and perils of the backcountry. I wanted a tool that could help me pack, help me shop, help me keep track of my gear, and help me gain insights from the community. Nothing like that existed, and so I set out on my journey.
